Custom Window Treatments · Frisco & Prosper, TX
The honest answer, the things that actually change it, and what we can do quickly right now.
Most custom shutters take 6 to 8 weeks from order to installation. Some manufacturers run to 12 weeks when they are busy. That is the real range across the industry, and any company that quotes you dramatically less without explaining why is worth a second question.
The reason is simple: a shutter is built for one window and no other. There is no warehouse to pull it from. Panels are cut to your opening, assembled, finished, and hung in a frame made to fit. That is also why shutters last for decades and why they read as part of the house rather than something hung on it.
So when someone asks us for shutters fast, the useful answer is not a number. It is which parts of the process can move and which cannot.
Running Now
For a limited time, hardwood shutter orders placed in the next two weeks are measured, built and installed within two weeks. Against a 6 to 8 week industry norm, that is roughly a quarter of the usual wait.
Applies to hardwood shutters. Specialty shapes and very large whole-house orders are quoted separately.

Only one of these takes weeks. Knowing which helps you plan around it.
Sheila measures your actual windows and confirms what is achievable for your timeline. Same week in most cases.
Your exact sizes go to the manufacturer. This is the point after which changes cost time.
The longest stage by far, and the one that varies most by material, finish and shape.
Usually a single visit. Trained installers fit everything and show you how it operates.
Faster Or Slower
Faster: standard rectangular windows, a stocked material, a standard paint finish, and a room or two rather than a whole house. Poly and composite shutters generally move through production more predictably than a custom-stained hardwood.
Slower: arches, eyebrows, angled tops and sidelights, because each one is built individually to a template. Custom stain matching adds time. So does a whole-house order, which is scheduled as a project rather than a single delivery.
Slower for reasons people do not expect: changing the order after it has gone to production, and new construction where trim is not finished. We cannot measure a window that is not fully installed, and measuring early is how orders come back wrong.
If you have a date you are working toward, a holiday, a move-in, a house going on the market, say so at the consultation. Sheila will tell you plainly whether it is achievable. If it is not, you will hear that instead of an optimistic promise.
Good To Know
Across the industry, 6 to 8 weeks from order to installation is typical, and some manufacturers run to 12 weeks in a busy season. Shutters are built to your exact openings, so there is no shelf to pull them from. Anything materially faster than that range is a genuine exception, not the norm.
Blinds and shades usually run 2 to 3 weeks. Shutters run 6 to 8 because a shutter is joinery: each panel is cut to your opening, assembled, sanded and finished, then hung in a frame made for that window. Blinds and shades are cut to size from stock components, which is why they move so much faster. If your deadline is tight and the room allows for it, a shade may get you there when a shutter cannot.
Material and shape, mostly. Standard rectangular openings in a stocked material move fastest. Arches, eyebrows, angles and sidelights are built individually and take longer. Custom stains take longer than standard paint finishes, and a whole-house order is scheduled differently from three windows.
Often, if you start early enough. Tell us the date at the consultation and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable and what it would take. If it is not, we will say so rather than take the order and disappoint you.
Two things, mostly: changes to the order after it has gone to production, and access on installation day. Measuring cannot happen until windows are in and trim is finished, so on new construction the build schedule sets the earliest possible start.
